Quinta Group’s President and Tunisian film producer, Tarak Ben Ammar, launched The Tunisian Mobile Film Festival, the first in a series of initiatives aimed at promoting young Tunisian talents. The festival took place at the Quinta Group’s Empire Studio in Hammamet. Teams of filmmakers had 24 hours to shoot their short films using mobile phones. Applicants to the festival were invited to create a one-minute long film on the theme of the Tunisian national flag. Ten teams were selected by a jury, made of professionals, to participate in the mobile film festival.
The film festival ran workshops supervised by industry professionals, and intended for the participant teams in order to assist them in developing the skills required to create their short films. Naeema Zarif from Creative Commons Lebanon gave a workshop to the participants on how to enrich their movies using footage and audio from Creative Commons database as well on how to license their work under Creative Commons license. Samsung provided the participants with tablets to shoot their movies and Redbull was there to energize the participants in their 24 hour quest.
The final versions of the films were uploaded onto the festival’s website to allow the audience to vote for the best entries. The festival held an awards ceremony on the 5th of May, during which the jury announced prizes for winners of categories of Best film, Best script, Best actor/actress, and Best post-production. Audience Award will go to the film which will get the highest number of online votes. To view more videos and Photos from TMFF2012 check the listed below links:
