Bassel Khartabil or as many of the Creative Commons community know as Bassel Safadi has been detained during a wave of arrests in Damascus, with no official explanation for his detention since March 15, 2012.
Bassel has always been of great support to the CC community and had launched a number of great initiatives to empower the web including Creative Commons Syria and Aiki Lab Damascus where CC Iftar was held back in 2010.
